January-February

Seeds that are often started in January and February.  Starting seeds indoors can greatly increase their chances of survival.  Before they are transplated into the garden, expose them to the elements for a few hours at a time for a few days.  This is called hardening and lessens the risk of transplant shock.  Based on a last frost date of March 15th, typical for the Pacific Northwest. Adjust your planting according to your own frost dates using our Year-Round Planting Guide.
